Flowers are among the greatest gifts of Gaia or MotherEarth
and the sight of Cherry Blossoms are a joy to behold.
.
My blind friends may be deprived of seeing such beautiful blooms
but are compensated by their fragrance and sweet scent that lingers
in the air to be enjoyed while strolling with a loved one through
a floral park in springtime.
This is a 100 year-old tree that fell after a heavy gust of
wind brought it down at the Warren Golf & Country Club.
It happened on June 22, 2010, and if it could talk the tree
would have many stories to tell since it was first planted
or grew from a seed a century ago.
A poet once stated that: "Many a gem of purest rays serene,
the dark unfathomed caves of ocean bear; many a flower
is born to blush unseen, and waste its sweetness in the desert
air". But this tree had existed among living beings and for
the past ten years was treasured for its immense size and
preserved for its position in front of the Clubhouse.
All good things must come to an end and so we say a fond
farewell to this lovely gift of nature on the greens.

Mother Knows Best...
Four brothers left home for college, and
they became successful doctors and lawyers and prospered. Some years
later, they chatted after having dinner together. They discussed
the gifts they were able to give their elderly mother who lived far away in another city.

PENG Shuilin was 78 cm tall. He was born in Hunan, China . In 1995,
a truck sliced his body in half. His lower body and legs were beyond
repair.Surgeons sewed up his torso. Peng spent nearly two years in
hospital, undergoing a series of operations to re-route nearly every major organ
and system inside his body. Peng kept exercising his arms, building up strength.
He survived against all odds. Peng astounded his doctors by being able to walk
again after a decade. Doctors at the China Rehabilitation Research Centre in Beijing
devised an ingenious way to allow Peng to walk on his own by creating a
sophisticated egg cup-like casing to hold his body, with two bionic legs
attached. Peng, now 37 years old and 2 feet 7 inches tall, has opened his own bargain supermarket, called the ' Half Man Half Price' Store. Peng is taken as an
inspirational role model for other amputees. He moves around in a wheelchair and
gives lectures on recovery to the disabled community. His attitude is amazing,
he seldom complains. Nothing ever gets him down.
Next time when you are about to complain that you are too fat, too slim, too short, too tall, too poor or too rich, try thinking about Peng......
